Welcome to a Renaissance &
reclamation of the Argentine Tango

Tango Embrace with AnaLinda Marcus brings the Argentine Tango to Boston and Cambridge with special classes and events. From the neighborhoods of Buenos Aires to U.S. cities, from Berlin and Amsterdam to Cuba and Turkey people of all ages are learning the foundations of tango and expanding them creating new things in the process.

This process of renewal is also acting as an impulse on the music so that now we are beginning to hear some music created for dancers that incorporates the experimental sounds of the past few decades.

The vitality of the dance is such that there is not one tango, and like in the tangos of the golden age of the 40’s and 50’s dancers and musicians can now again create within the dance without it threatening to dilute the essence of the Tango. Once upon a time it was said of ganchos, arrastres and even the open-figure style of the dance itself “that is not Tango”.

It's thrilling.... Foundation material in Close Embrace structured to include some cross-system work and training on how to learn about Tango structure so you can get the most out of your group classes anywhere. As usual in Tango Embrace classes, we also stress musicality from the earliest classes.

This class is also great for any dancers needing to renew their foundation in close embrace. Tango Embrace classes are known for the emphasis on Connection, Musicality, Community-centered Learning and Mutual Respect, as well as a high teacher-to-student ratio.
